Congressman Ruben Hinojosa to be Honored by Reading is Fundamental

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa will join CEO Carol H. Rasco of Reading is Fundamental (RIF), the nation's largest children's literacy organization and children's book author, Samantha Vamos to celebrate children's literacy. Congressman Hinojosa will be the honored guest for a literacy celebration for elementary students at 9:00 a.m. on May 6, 2015 at Hendricks Elementary School, 3900 Goldcrest Ave. McAllen, Texas.

Congressman Hinojosa will receive recognition for his inspiring work to advance learning. The event will feature a read-aloud by Congressman Hinojosa and a special presentation by noted children's author Samantha Vamos (The Cazuela that the Farm Maiden Stirred). RIF promotes reading by distributing books to millions of children each year.

Congressman Hinojosa has been active in his support of expanding literacy programs to students. He has visited with students, educators and parents at RIF programs where book distributions and read-alouds spark the imagination of thousands of children in the McAllen area.
